Children’s dentist

As your local children’s dentist, we provide a friendly, comfortable environment for the whole family. We look forward to helping you with your childen’s dental care from baby to teenager and beyond!

Children’s dental services we provide include:

When should I make my child’s first appointment?

We recommend that children start to visit a children’s dentist as young as two years old.

Of course you are welcome to bring them in earlier if you have any questions or concerns once their teeth start appearing,

Young children generally only need to see the dentist every 6-12 months. We like to see that their teeth are coming through at the right time and in the right place and also offer advice on diet.

Good habits start young

It is vital that children get used to coming in to see a children’s dentist while they are young, so that they can form good associations and fear of dentists can be avoided.

While children are growing, it is important that their facial growth and dental development are monitored closely. This will help them avoid crowding of teeth and jaw issues. We also assess and address other factors like large tonsils, sleep apnoea and snoring, mouth breathing and thumb sucking as soon as possible.

Bring your children to see us so that any problems can be diagnosed early and your child can develop a happy, healthy, trusting life-long relationship with dentistry.

If there are any issues to be addressed, we offer nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, to help ensure your child stays relaxed and happy while they are with us.

Breaking the cycle of anxiety

We understand that many people have had difficult experiences with dentistry in their childhood and it can be hard not to pass that anxiety about visiting the dentist. When people avoid the dentist, more serious problems can develop, increasing the fear. At Dentistry with Care Chatswood, we want to help you break the cycle so that you and your children enjoy a lifetime of good dental health and a smile you are proud of.

Mouthguards

If your child plays a contact sport, a fitted mouthguard from your dentist offers the best protection. Chat to us about the colours and styles available and find out more about mouthguards here.

What about teenagers and their teeth?

Teenagers who have braces often find their teeth particularly difficult to clean and we strongly recommend regular 6-monthly check-up and clean appointments to help maintain oral hygiene through this time. We can also offer dietary advice tailored to this age group who may be particularly prone to snacking and sugary sports drinks.

We offer the latest fluoride treatments with calcium to help protect the teeth of our young patients.
